Graphite Energy has demonstrated the operation of its thermal energy storage technology at its 3MWe Lake Cargelligo Thermal Power Station in NSW, Australia.
The plant commenced operation in May 2011 and consists of:
- Multiple graphite solar storage receivers
- Concentrating solar power field using dual axes sun tracking mirrors (heliostats)
- 3MWe steam turbine generator, related steam cycle plant and controls
Graphite Energy has accumulated more than 25,000 hours of operating data . Graphite Energy has undertaken and continues to undertake rigorous testing to validate thermal performance and operational modelling, system control and various integration options. This testing has led to technical improvements to reduce cost, improve performance and simplify operation.
